Xiaomi Redmi 5A Goes on Sale on Flipkart Today

Xiaomi Redmi 5 to launch tomorrow along with Redmi 5 Plus Images & Price leaks

The Redmi 5 and Redmi 5 Plus have finally made its debut in China as affordable phones with a fashionable 18:9 aspect ratio.

Xiaomi Redmi 5: This specific model comes in two options, the 2 GB RAM and 16 GB onboard flash storage and 3 GB RAM and 32 GB onboard flash storage.

Both devices will be available in Black, Blue, Pink and Gold colour options and will go on sale in China on 12 December. As a Plus model, the handset sports a 5.99-inch Full HD+ (1080x2160) display with an 18:9 aspect ratio.

"The Redmi 5 has a 5.7" IPS LCD 720 x 1440 display with an 18:9 aspect ratio.

Powering the Redmi 5 is a 3,300mAh battery, while the Redmi 5 Plus gets a larger 4,000mAh capacity.

Concerning stockpiling, the Xiaomi Redmi 5 offers 16GB or 32GB of inbuilt memory, expandable using microSD card. The smartphone will come with 3300mAh battery.

Both Xiaomi Redmi 5 and 5 Plus have similar camera offerings like a 12-megapixel primary camera along with an LED flash.

According to the teasers and promo videos, the larger Redmi 5 Plus is expected to sport narrower bezels than the Redmi 5.

Xiaomi is bringing full-screen experience to its entry-level smartphones. Once Xiaomi sells 50 lakh units, the introductory offer will be withdrawn, and the phone will be available for Rs 5,999.

Xiaomi Redmi 5 is identical to the Redmi 5 Plus in terms of design. This smartphone will either be shipped with 2GB of RAM and 16GB of internal storage or with 3GB of RAM and 32GB of internal storage. They will both ship with MIUI 9 on board, which is based on Android 7.0 Nougat. There is a second variant having 3GB of RAM and 32GB of storage and it still comes cheap at 899 Yuan (~$135). The 4G-enabled phone has a fingerprint scanner on the back, right below the single 12MP primary camera.

Just like the Redmi 5, the Redmi 5 Plus has a 12MP primary camera and a 5MP secondary camera with beautify 3.0 software. The fingerprint sensor sits at the back of the device which has become a Redmi signature irrespective of thin or thick bezels. It runs 2.0GHz Snapdragon 625 processor with Adreno 506 GPU. The Redmi 5 Plus is priced at CNY 999 (roughly Rs 9,700) for the 3GB/32GB variant, while the 4GB/64GB variant retails for CNY 1,299 (roughly Rs. 12,700). The Redmi 5 Plus also boots MIUI 9 out of the box, and the smartphone is backed by a 4000mAh battery.
