The 'Invisible Box' Challenge Is The Latest Viral Internet Craze

Why This Cheerleader's Mind-Blowing Invisible Box Stunt Is Sweeping the Internet

Social media users are going insane trying the invisible box challenge.

Texas high school cheerleader Ariel Olivar reignited the challenge last week after posting her own video to Twitter, mimicking Hines' movements with the caption "challenge accepted".

"Challenge accepted", she captioned the clip, which has garnered almost 220,000 likes and over 112,000 retweets in the two days since it was posted. There has been a new entry to the long list of time-wasting sensations taking the internet by storm.

"The video was my third time trying it", she wrote on Twitter. It's hard to explain, I just keep the leg in the same exact spot, ' she tells Chron.

While we sit and watch that video on loop, there were several others who shared their failed attempts to the challenge and honestly, they are hilarious.

"It is actually kind of challenging keeping it there".

The trick: Pretend you're putting a foot on a box, and then hop over it with the other foot.

But do you know impossible it is to step on air? "There's a ton of oblique and ab stability maintaining that position". (Remember planking and cinnamon-eating, anyone?) Videos of the gravity-defying challenge date back as early as 2014, and earlier this year, an Anderson University student posted a video of himself completing the gravity-defying move. "Very explosive hip flexor, abdominal and glute strength is what is driving the leg up and over the "box", Ebenezer said.
