Overwatch's holiday event returns next week with new Mei-focused mode

Overwatch's Winter Wonderland event returns December 12

One such game is Overwatch, which will host its Winter Wonderland event for the second year in the row beginning next week.

Overwatch's seasonal Winter Wonderland event returns next week on December 12th, and Blizzard is breaking down what players can expect from this year's festivities in a developer update video.

The cornerstone of the event will be a new game mode, a kind of "boss fight" that will see five Meis fighting one "Yeti" that's actually a Winston. He added that holiday skins are also on the way for "two of our favorite Junkers" - i.e., Junkrat and Roadhog.

The holidays are upon us, and you know what that means: new Overwatch stuff.

As for last year's event mode, Mei's Global Snowball Offensive will be back playable on both Antarctica and the Black Forest map.

In addition to this Mei's Yeti Hunt. The Ecopoint: Antarctica map is also in the mix alongside the black Forest arena, along with winterized versions of numerous game's maps to coincide with the event. The big thing here is that a player will actually control the yeti, which is a powered up version of Winston. While the Meis look for Winston, he is looking for power-ups to fuel his Primal Rage super. They can use their Ice Walls. If enough of the Meis die, then the mode is over and Winston wins.

Winter Wonderland will be available on PC, Xbox One, and PlayStation 4 when it launches next Tuesday, and the full line-up of 2017 seasonal skins will likely be revealed soon. If he fully charges it up, the Meis will need to do whatever they can to escape.
