Ola driver locks Bengaluru woman in cab molests her

In yet another incident of crime against the woman, a 23-year-old woman in Bengaluru was molested by an Ola cab driver after child-locking her inside the cab. The woman said she tried to get out of the vehicle, but could not due to the child safety lock and that then she tried to raise an alarm by banging the car's window to grab the attention of passersby.

After the incident, the accused driver made several calls the next day threatening the victim of dire consequences if she lodged a complaint against him to the cab service. "We regret the unfortunate experience the customer had during her ride". It also added that the driver has been suspended from the platform. She has complained about the incident to the Ola Cabs safety team. Fearing an attack by Reddy, the woman approached the Madivala police and informed them about the incident.

The incident took place around 10.30 pm on Sunday, in a deserted spot on the Ring Road in south east Bengaluru, an NDTV report said.

According to the fashion stylist she had booked an Ola cab from Indra Nagar to BTM layout on Sunday evening.

The woman told IANS: "The cab driver misbehaved and tried to touch me". So I couldn't open the doors and he tried to come close to me.

It was then she started banging the window following which the driver let her go. Their representatives called me on Monday to collect details about the incident.

"We are in the process of reaching out to the victim, instill confidence and persuade her to give us a complaint so that we take action against the driver", said a senior police officer from the Madiwala station. I warned him and tried to damage the vehicle.

"I have decided not to file a First Information Report (FIR)".
