New 'Black Mirror' Season 4 Trailer Reveals the Trek-Inspired “USS Callister”

Charlie Brooker's dark anthology series offers a bleak view of the present and future of humanity, but it's nearly always a mind-bending ride. As well as presenting his own twisted take on Star Trek, Brooker's fourth season will also offer fans a Black Mirror episode about online dating and one about the dangers of over-parenting.

The popular series, which won an Emmy previous year in television movie and television movie writing for the "San Junipero" episode, will return with six brand new episodes.

- "Arkangel", directed by Jodie Foster (Money Monster, The Silence of the Lambs) and starring Rosemarie Dewitt (La La Land, Mad Men), Brenna Harding (A Place to Call Home), Owen Teague (Bloodline). As Kiran Sonia Sawar notes, however, "memories can be subjective", and they're hardly a ideal record of events. David Slade (Breaking Bad, American Gods) directs the episode and Maxine Peake stars in the lead. The Netflix anthology series is so big its generated buzz since its fourth season's episode titles were announced, but fans expected to wait until next year to dig into the show's newest offerings. "Arkangel" is an indie mother-daughter relationship drama.

Other upcoming episodes - all of which will once again be self-contained films - are the black and white "Metalhead", another titled "Hang the DJ", and the creepy "Black Museum". And then you have "Black Museum, ' which is Stephen King-esque campfire horror tale telling".

All six episodes will be available on the streaming service from Friday 29 December.

We'd tell you when Black Mirror returns to our screens, but as we mentioned, there's no official word on that yet. What has been your favorite to date (ours is a toss-up between "San Junipero" and "The National Anthem").
