Liverpool vs Spartak Moscow

Klopp's Reds take on the Seagulls on Saturday but will have to do so without injured Joel Matip

Jurgen Klopp has revealed he feared Liverpool were doomed to suffer a repeat of their collapse at Sevilla during Saturday's clash against Brighton.

Jurgen Klopp's men threw away a 3-0 lead at Sevilla, which has made their path to the last 16 much more complicated than it needed to be. I don't know how long exactly he'll be out, but he's definitely not playing Wednesday.

Klopp was confronted by Albion boss Hughton on the full-time whistle, initially thought to be a result of the Reds boss' exuberant celebrations on the touchline throughout the game.

Mane to start on Wednesday against Spartak Moscow.

Joel Matip and Nathaniel Clyne remain out for Liverpool, but Sadio Mane could return after he was on the bench for the Reds.

"Our game in Moscow was an outstanding Champions League contest".

Meanwhile, Spartak Moscow have also lost 22 of their last 28 Champions League away games (W5 D1).

The Reds need a point to secure their place in the Champions League knockout stage following a solid if unspectacular group-stage campaign.

"The team is always more important".

That defeat came at the end of a golden five-year period during which they won the trophy (2005), contested another final (2007), as well as making it to the last four (2008).

Spartak Moscow have reached the knockout stages of the Champions League only once in their 11 previous appearances, it was in 1995/96 (quarter-finalists). Six of those seven goal contributions took place in the first-half. "I'd be very surprised if they did even after what happened in Seville", Nicholas told Sky Sports.

"I understand the importance of winning, but this was Brighton".

"We shook hands and he said what he thought - and it is what I think as well - that you should shake the hand of the other manager first, but it was not on goal and after the game I spoke to Chris and his assistant". "I can not think before each game about a 3-0 lead and then the other team coming back".
