Introducing Stories Highlights and Stories Archive

Story Archive for Instagram

Curmudgeon musings aside, Instagram has now released a couple of new features, which I'm pretty sure have been there in Snapchat for a while (Memories, if I recall correctly, I might have even written about it. oh look I DID!), that let you take those ephemeral stories and keep them forever.

You can now archive your Instagram Stories.

Brands and all other Instagram users can now showcase collections of their old Instagram Stories on their profile pages, the Facebook-owned photo-and-video platform announced on Tuesday.

You have to just tap on the Archive icon on your profile, to see any of your saved Stories.

From here you can select "Share" to share something from your archive as a new story, "Highlight" to add it to an existing highlight on your profile or make a new highlight, or "More" to permanently delete the story from your archive, save a video to your camera roll, or share something from your archive to your Instagram feed. These highlights will be shown just below the profile and you can create multiple highlights and even rename them. Stories Highlights is a new part of your profile where you can show more of who you are through stories you've shared. Then, when someone visits your profile, they see it as one Story under that name.

Instagram story highlights are basically archived stories that users can pin up to their profile. I think there should be a way to integrate them into your main gallery, but that's due to the part of me that loves the orderly grid. The latest update bumps it to v25 and brings two new features. And it gives people a new way to highlight them afterwards, with a major new change to the way profiles work.

From there you will be able to view, share, or add to a highlight right from your archive.

The app will now automatically save users' Stories to their archive page.

You can find them by going to your profile page on Instagram.

Both these features will be available on Android and iOS starting today.

You can add up to 100 photos or videos to a Story Highlight, and there's no limit to how many Highlights you can create.

If you want to edit one of your Instagram Story Highlights, tap "Edit Highlight".
