John Mayer underwent an emergency appendectomy Tuesday morning, forcing the rocker to postpone a New Orleans Dead & Company show. Mayer can, however, give a doctor's note to any frustrated would-be concert goers-he underwent an emergency appendectomy to remove his appendix on Tuesday morning.

Mayer, 40, has been touring with Dead & Company, a reshuffled Grateful Dead lineup, since 2015.

There is no news yet on the surgery's outcome. All tickets for the December 5 show will be honored for the rescheduled date.

Dead & Company is now next scheduled to perform on Thursday at the Amway Center in Orlando, Florida. No word yet on the remaining tour dates, which was scheduled to wrap up on Friday in Sunrise, Florida.

Mayer is also scheduled to perform a December 12 at the Masonic in San Francisco.

While the group doesn't now have anything scheduled after its Friday concert until next February, Mayer has a few solo shows lined up for this month. Tickets to the December 7th show in Orlando are still on sale at this time.
