Amazon Prime Video Finally Lands on Apple TV

Apple TV will finally get Amazon Prime Video

Around six months after it was first promised to be coming "later this year" by Tim Cook, the Amazon Prime Video app has finally arrived on the Apple TV.

This is something of a boon for the Apple TV - having Amazon Prime alongside other popular streaming platforms such as Netflix and Hulu means it's more in line with the competition and more of an attractive streaming proposition to Amazon Prime subscribers. As of this morning, however, Apple TV is still not available on Amazon.

But now Apple TV users - 3rd generation or later - will have a way to watch Amazon content.

Prime members in the U.S., U.K., Germany, Austria and Japan can use the app to watch videos purchased or rented from Amazon. "With these exciting updates, plus our growing collection of 4K HDR movies on iTunes, we continue to deliver an unparalleled entertainment experience to Apple customers", he continued. Apart from movies and TV shows include Amazon Originals, Prime Video offers a wide catalogue of regional content in India.

Google signaled that its move was in retaliation for Amazon's refusal to sell some Google products that compete with Amazon gadgets.

Amazon said in a statement, per Reuters, that it hopes to resolves the dispute with Google, but added that the search giant was "setting a disappointing precedent by selectively blocking customer access to an open website". If it doesn't show up there, you can find the new app by searching for "Amazon" in the tvOS app store, selecting the Amazon Shopping app, and finding the new Prime Video app in the "More by this Developer" section at the bottom of the page.
