The Division's largest free update ever, 1.8 Resistance, is now live

The Division's Big “Resistance” Update Hits Tomorrow, Will Be Followed by a Free Weekend

2 Game Modes will happen in the new area. The new locale of the West Side Pier is home to two new game modes. The former is essentially a team deathmatch mode with two teams of four pitted against each other. Varied enemy NPCs continuously spawn in waves as up to four agents try to survive for as long as they can.

According to Ubisoft, Resistance is the largest free update for The Division and expands the game map with a new area accessible to all players called the West Side Pier.

The other mode is a 4v4 PvP mode called Skirmish.

The trailer found further above definitely provides a solid surface level summary of what's in store for those who engage with The Division's Update 1.8, but there may be some who would enjoy a more comprehensive breakdown of its contents, particularly when it comes to the specifics of the new Rogue system in the Dark Zone, and the tweaks being implemented in Underground mode. Agents who achieve "Manhunt" status will have objectives to interact with, which will reward them with Manhunt caches; non-Rogue agents will see the general area of the Manhunt objective and receive rewards for stopping the Manhunt agents.

If all of this isn't enough, a range of new Classified Gear and Exotics have been added to the game, as well as a series of gameplay patches and fixes, including the option to kick members out of groups of 3 or more. Ubisoft has added a lot of features with this update.

For those unfamiliar with it, the online action-RPG title was released back in March 2016 on the Xbox One, and it's set in a post-apocalyptic version of Manhattan, which has been hit by a deadly virus. From the launch of patch 1.8 through the end of the free weekend, all players will also have access to the game's first three DLC expansions for free.

As you would expect, any progress made will carry over to the full game if purchased.
