Actor Terry Crews is suing a Hollywood agency over an allegation that one of its agent groped him at 2016 party.

Crews' complaint, filed in Los Angeles Superior Court, states the actor and former National Football League player was subjected to sexual assault, sexual harassment, gender violence and emotional distress during and after a February 2016 incident in which he says he was repeatedly groped by a talent executive.

This article discusses sexual assault.

The suit further claims that after Crews pushed Venit away, but the agent - described in the suit as looking at Crews like a "rabid dog" - "ignored everything Crews was saying and continued to try to grab Crews' genitals". The "Brooklyn Nine-Nine" star said he met with WME co-CEO and chairman Ari Emanuel, who apologized for the way Venit acted.

The lawsuit alleges that the agency knew Venit was predatory and condoned his behaviour by failing to punish him for it. Hours later, Venit called him to apologize for his behavior, claiming that he was not himself. "Indeed, a message needs to be sent to those in power who abuse those over whom they exert influence and control that abusive and sexual predatory behavior will not be tolerated".

Crews said on Twitter in October that the Hollywood executive groped him during an event while he was with his wife Rebecca.

WME has not yet replied to a request for comment. But Crews inserted Venit's name for Gibson and "sexual assault" for "anti-Semitism" in the letter, telling Emanuel that Venit should receive similar punishment and be fired. "I was horrified", Crews said on GMA.

"I let it go. What are you doing" and then he comes back again.

The statement falls in line with what Crews told "Good Morning America" in November, where, as in the filing, he also said he has never felt more emasculated in his life.

The actor believes WME has ignored Venit's "long history of freaky behavior" and predatory acts because of the agent's success in representing A-list clients like Adam Sandler, Casey Affleck and Dustin Hoffman.

"Guess who's Dustin Hoffman's agent?"
