John Mayer Hospitalized for Emergency Appendectomy

Singer John Mayer inducts Stevie Ray Vaughn and Double Trouble during the 2015 Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony in Cleveland Ohio

Early this morning, guitarist/vocalist John Mayer was admitted into the hospital for an emergency appendectomy.

Mayer was hospitalised on Tuesday for an emergency appendectomy.

Mayer's scheduled concert with Dead & Company tonight in New Orleans will be postponed. The tour stop will be rescheduled.

While the group doesn't now have anything scheduled after its Friday concert until next February, Mayer has a few solo shows lined up for this month. In September of the same year, he underwent surgery to have the granuloma removed.

Dead & Company was forced to postpone a Tuesday show in New Orleans.

Dead & Company has been around since 2015. Tickets to the December 7th show in Orlando are still on sale at this time.

The band's official Twitter account broke the news of Mayer's health issue early Tuesday.

Mayer, 40, has not yet commented on the procedure, but as of Monday evening, he'd been active on social media. It's unclear when he'll be healthy enough to get back on the road to continue.

Grateful Dead singer and Mayer's bandmate, Bob Weir, wished the guitarist a speedy recovery.
