Bullies continue cruel taunts online after girl, 13, takes own life

Mesa View Middle School was aware Rosalie was being bullied and she was in counseling. The school released a statement saying that crisis counselors and intervention teams will be available

Rosalie Avila hanged herself last Tuesday evening at her home in Yucaipa, California.

FOX 11 spoke with parents Freddie and Charlene Avila who are preparing to take their daughter, Rosalie, off life support on Monday.

"My daughter is the victim of bullying", wrote Charlene Avila, Rosalie's mother.

Now her family must reckon with the sudden loss of their daughter.

"And it said, "Sorry, Mom, you're gonna find me like this", the grieving father said. Her family said she loved the snow as much as she loved the beach and enjoyed singing.

"My daughter had the whole world", her father, Freddie Avila told NBC while choking back tears.

"They told me I was ugly today", her father Freddie Avila said the eighth grader wrote in her note. One of the notes stated, "Sorry, Mom and Dad". I go, 'You have braces, honey, don't worry.

California parents say their 13-year-old daughter was driven to suicide after years of bullying.

"The things that they post on social media about my daughter is unacceptable". That includes an image of Rosalie telling her mom not to tuck her into a bed - but rather into an open grave.

A vigil was held at Mesa View Middle School to remember Rosalie, who the family described as "a lovely person inside and out", a "great artist, very lovable & loving", and "very smart and always had good grades" in a GoFundMe set up to help them cover burial costs.

Her parents turned over a journal to police that described the bullying she faced from classmates.

And as if that pain was not enough, Rosalie's parents said they are now being bullied as they mourn having to let their daughter go. The family made the hard decision to take Rosalie off life support on Friday so that her organs could be donated.

The family had started a GoFundMe page to raise money to cover funeral and medical expenses.

The girl's parents are also alleging that one of bullies harassed them after their daughter's death.

"Now, I just have to think about what she could have done or what she could have become, now it's just a memory". He said she's been bullied for years and the district isn't doing enough to keep her safe.

"She was a handsome person inside and out", her mother wrote on the GoFundMe page. She was a great artist, very lovable & loving.

Rosalie Avila hanged herself in her room on November 28 and was rushed to hospital, where she was declared brain dead a day later. "She's very smart and always had good grades", the page read.

"No one can fathom the heartbreak and confusion that we are certain many of our students and families are feeling right now", the statement reads.

"She was daddy's girl and mommy's princess", she added. Her dream was to become a lawyer so she could make the world a better place.
