Atiku Visit PDP Headquarters, Urges All Defectors To Return "Home"

Alhaji Atiku Abubakar speaking at the National Headquarters of PDP in Abuja

Abubakar, who arrived at the secretariat at about noon, went to the office of the party's National Caretaker Committee Chairman, Sen.

Makarfi said the party's target was to return to power at the federal level, reclaim and win more states, national and state assembly seats and local government areas.

Ekos Akpokabayen, the Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party, South Africa chapter, has called on members of the party to elect vibrant and young leaders at its national convention.

The former Vice President had made what looks like a triumphant return to the Wadata Plaza Abuja national secretariat of the party with pomp and pageantry.

He also promised to ensure other members who had left the party at various times, returned to the PDP.

National Chairman of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), John Odigie-Oyegun, has stated that the exit of former vice president Atiku Abubakar from the party would not lead to a mass defection as there were no real options outside of the APC which he said was the only "truly settled" political party in the country.

Addressing newsmen after the private meeting held with the leadership of the party, Atiku said he was at the secretariat to pay courtesy call to the national leadership.

'There have been speculations in the media that I am returning home (the PDP) and I am so happy to be home now. "This is the home". "It is not. The country is making steady progress and your party is growing on a daily basis", Oyegun said. When we founded this party, we founded it based on the tenets of democracy, integrity and good governance. Please drop your comment!

Special Assistant to President Muhammadu Buhari on social media, Lauretta Onochie, has said that former Vice President Atiku Abubakar can not win in his local government if he contests the 2019 presidential election.

Atiku's comeback, according to Makarfi is as a result of the confidence he still has for the PDP.

"Your Excellency, you have opened the floodgates and we expect many more high profile returnees and new entrants into the PDP". That is what PDP must stand for if it has to survive. And the story will be a positive one by the end of the day. Ahmed Makarfi, before he was received at the National Executive Committee (NEC) hall.

"Even this week, we recorded two massive legal victories in another attack against PDP who are hell bent on destabilising this party and holding this party down".
