Netflix put the award-winning political thriller series on hold in response to the slew of allegations against Spacey, a two-time Oscar victor accused of attempting to rape a teenage boy and of a pattern of harassment towards younger, male colleagues - including on the set of House Of Cards. He went on to write the BBC adaptation of the show, which aired in 1990, and now serves as an executive producer on the Netflix series. The poor people have been sweating over their candles and quill pens.

He said that Spacey's co-star Robin Wright will continue in her role and become the central character in the plotline.

The streaming service claimed it had nothing to do with the news surrounding Spacey, but the timing proved to be even more convenient when, days later, the actor was hit with multiple more assault and harassment allegations, this time leading the streaming network to fire him entirely. "So, to that extent, it's been a relatively easy transition", he said.

Back in October, Netflix suspended production on the sixth season before announcing they were cutting all ties with Spacey. Other people will decide for themselves what was right or wrong.

It was still waiting to know what Netflix was going to do season 6 of House of Cards, Kevin Spacey has been fired unceremoniously during the shooting because of a sex scandal.

Robin Wright, who has starred alongside Spacey since the beginning of the series, playing wife Claire to his Frank Underwood, seemed the frontrunner to be shifted to lead, particularly after having ended the last season as the reigning president.
