Ahmed Makarfi urges Atiku Abubakar to return PDP to Aso Rock

Convention PDP panel bans presidential ticket campaign as Atiku visits party's headquarters today

Ekos Akpokabayen, the Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party, South Africa chapter, has called on members of the party to elect vibrant and young leaders at its national convention.

Abuja Political Correspondent, Alhassan Bala reports that the party Caretaker Chairman, Senator Ahmed Makarfi said the party is expecting more returnees and new comers.

"He is known to hobnob from one party to the other when he can not have control in that party".

"PDP did not extend any special concession to Atiku and the party will not extend any special concession to any other person".

"Mr Chairman, I want to congratulate you for a wonderful work which you have been doing to redeem the image of this party, to return it, rebrand it and return it to its original form".

Atiku made the declaration when he visited the PDP National Secretariat, Wadata House, in Abuja. And I hope we all must have learned our lessons.

"Let me pay tribute to past leaders of this great party; wherever they may be and to call upon them to please return home as I have done".

She said "Atiku may have had that weight some years ago but over the years he's been losing that weight and at the moment, I can tell you that even in his local government area in his native Adamawa, he can't win any election".

"It is only by their returning home that we will build a stronger, more united party that can again return to government and continue to deliver the dividends of democracy. And the story will be a positive one by the end of the day", he said. "Your Excellency, you are very much welcome home". "That is what PDP must stand for if it has to survive", he said. Because we still remain the only true Democratic Party in the true sense of the word. Meaning you accept now that certain things are wrong and you will not be part of it and we are able to get most of our citizenry to see that point, then real change has started. It was accepted by the party as a political arrangement not as a decision of the Caretaker Committee or that of the National Executive Committee (NEC).

He urged him to continue to contribute in reinventing and remodeling of the party so that it could reclaim Aso Rock in 2019.

"For us, the chairman of the party should understand the dynamics and the plight of its members, current agitations we have been having in some state chapters of the party". "I want to believe that your mission here, your predicating yourself to grassroots mobilisation for the APC is an act that has been inspired by the Almighty himself and that you will be faithful not just to that inspiration that brought you but also be faithful to this party, dedicated to ensuring that this nation experiences the greatness for which the Almighty himself has destined it".
