Nokia 9 may beat everyother expensive smartphone in the market

Nokia 9 could be unveiled on January 19

Nokia devices in the OEM's current stable won't be getting support for Google's Project Treble initiative when they get their updates to Android 8.0 (Oreo), according to HMD Global's chief product officer, Juho Sarvikas.

If the speculation is legit, expect the Nokia 9 to fetch around £415 SIM-free. And now, it is again in news for reportedly working on the successor of its flagship smartphone, Nokia 8, monikered as Nokia 9.

New Nokia phones come with clean Android and a promise of fast updates, but it turns out they are still not equals to the Pixels – at least not as far as Project Treble is concerned. Unfortuntely, Sarvikas didn't reveal exactly when the phone would be getting the Oreo update.

Chinese publication MyDrivers reported that HMD Global may launch the Nokia 9 and the next-generation Nokia 8 with a customized experience for the Chinese market.

We have seen enough of the phone's rumors and leaks in the past.

In terms of the specifications, the phone is expected to feature a 5.5-inch QHD screen. There would be a number of different variants of this phone with its RAMs and Storage options.

Both the phones are expected to come with a dual camera setup and a bezel-less display. The Cameras will be powered by more advanced modes and other functions for the ideal photography. Reports suggest that neither of the phones will include a 3.5mm headphone jack. The leaked screenshot shows that the Nokia 9 with 6GB RAM and 64GB storage will go on sale in China for CNY 3,699 (approximately Rs. 36,000), whereas its other version with 6GB RAM and 128GB storage will be available for CNY 4,199 (roughly Rs. 40,900). A new report from China says the device will be made official next month. Its not impossible – the original Pixels got Treble (of course), but so did the Essential Phone along with the Huawei Honor 9 and Honor 8 Pro. The company also asserted separately that it will release beta builds for the Nokia 5 and Nokia 6 to test Android Oreo soon.
