The father of the man suspected of killing a New Kensington police officer was taken into custody early Wednesday morning. Moments later, she says Holt ran in to her Victoria Avenue home and told her he had "leave the area".

"Thank you very much", said New Kensington Police Chief James Klein before Holt's capture.

After Holt eluded police for days, U.S. Marshals captured him and used Shaw's handcuffs on him when they took him into custody. "Oh, Jesus, the cop killer's on my street".

Bob Thompson, another neighbor, heard the commotion outside before sunrise.

Westmoreland County District Attorney John Peck said "multiple" informants gave information that helped investigators track Holt down, but he didn't have enough information to determine whether anyone was deserving of the reward money. The officer was pronounced dead at a nearby hospital not long after the shooting. "It was kind of uneasy knowing that we jad another murderer on the loose", said Jackson. Authorities filed charges of first-degree murder and murder of a police officer against Holt on Saturday. She said Holt changed into clothes given to him by Mason.

The woman was charged with hindering apprehension "due to the numerous conflicting statements given, along with the fact that Sherry Holt failed to contact law enforcement as instructed", the complaint said.

Police had been following Holt throughout the night as he moved from Duquesne to Homewood and eventually to the home in Hazelwood.

Mason and Benson were questioned at their home in Duquesne when detectives from the county sheriff's office went there to arrest Mason on an outstanding warrant Monday, according to a criminal complaint.
