ENGLEWOOD, Colo. - Using words such as "efficient" and "stabilize", Denver Broncos coach Vance Joseph explained his decision to fire offensive coordinator Mike McCoy on Monday morning and promote Bill Musgrave to the job on an interim basis.

The Broncos lost their sixth-consecutive game this past Sunday against the Bengals.

Klint Kubiak, son of former Broncos head coach Gary Kubiak, has been promoted from offensive assistant/assistant quarterbacks coach to quarterbacks coach.

McCoy was in his second stint as offensive coordinator with the Broncos before leaving to become coach of the San Diego Chargers.

According to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport, John Elway had been frustrated with the team's offensive scheme and the team not being competitive in recent losses.

"I appreciate the hard work of our players and was proud to work with them along with the rest of our coaching staff".

The Broncos started 3-1 but have dropped to the AFC West cellar during the losing streak. Cincinnati scored a touchdown six plays later to go ahead, 20-10. The Broncos averaged just 18.3 points per game through the first ten games of the season, the ninth-worst total in the NFL.
