Facebook's new Creator app brings pro graphics and analytics to your videos

Facebook made an app just for video creators

Creators around the world are sharing their videos on Facebook to build a community around their passion - whether their passion is comedy sketches, their favorite recipes, or even knitting sweaters.

The social media giant has launched two new initiatives with a view to giving its affectionately titled "creators" a helping hand.

In its latest attempt to woo video creators away from YouTube, Facebook has released an app just for them.

Live Creative Kit: With this feature, users can access exclusive tools that make it easy to create live broadcasts with a personalized and fun feel. Anyone using it will be able to create custom intros and outros - intros are especially handy, as it takes a moment before other people see the link and start watching - as well as the ability to add interactive stickers and a custom video frame.

Community Tab: Community Tab helps video creators to connect with fans and collaborators with a unified inbox, which centralizes comments from Facebook and Instagram, and messages from Messenger. Creators can also access Facebook Stories to engage with their fans.

The first is a new "Facebook Creator" mobile app that lets creators whip up original video content, go live with exclusive features, and connect with their fans on Facebook from their smartphone. Comment mirroring is another feature getting the boot, if you had it enabled, it allowed Facebook comments to appear on pieces of content offsite that used the plug-in, now those comments will only live on the big FB itself. We're now testing shows with a set of creators and plan to roll out more broadly in the future.

That's right, no longer will you roll your eyes and curse technology every time your aunt invites you to play Candy Cane Crush or Farmville 4: The Farmening or whatever awful game is on Facebook or connected to Facebook. We will be gathering feedback and iterating on the app to create the best experience for creators.

Simo, in her post, said she met last week with three of Facebook's top creators - Jody Steel (3.1 million followers) Markian (1.3 million), and Jay Mendoza (274,000). If you are interested, you can join the Facebook for Creators community here.
