Watch Jimmy Fallon's Tearful Tribute to His Late Mother Gloria

Working Joe Jimmy Fallon was seen heading back to work on The Tonight Show following a week long hiatus after the passing of his mom Gloria on November 4

Fallon added that he's grateful that he can do "The Tonight Show" every night and thanked everyone for the support he received over the last week.

"She was the best audience. She was such a fan of the show and everything I did", he told viewers. "She was such a fan of the show, and everything I did", Fallon said during the opening of the show, as he held back tears.

When he was a child, his mother would squeeze his hand three times and say, "I love you".

Taylor Swift made a surprise appearance on the episode, performing her new track New Years Day.

"Jimmy's words about his mom were attractive". He concluded the monologue by saying that he wanted nothing more than to continue to try to make his mother laugh, and to provide a little bit of humor and joy for numerous people out there watching at home. The tearjerker part? The lyrics happen to include: "You squeeze my hand three times in the back of the taxi/I can tell that it's gonna be a long road". Well the musical guest was none other than the queen of emotion herself, Taylor Swift.

"She was not scheduled to do our show today". It was Fallon's first show back since his mother Gloria passed away, and at the beginning, Fallon reflected on his time with her. "She said yes with zero hesitation".

One of the things that we do want to point out is some of the love that we've heard about towards Jimmy from some of the Tonight Show staff over the past day or two.

The 27-year-old songstress, dressed in a metallic hoodie for her close-up, shared a touching moment with the tearful host post-performance, as they embraced and she patted him on the back.
