Two Holiday Shoppers Stabbed At Mall of America

Bloomington police say a suspect is in custody after a stabbing at Macy's in the Mall of America

November 13-Two men were injured Sunday night in a stabbing at Macy's in the Mall of America after an "interrupted theft", police say.

A stabbing at one of the nation's largest malls has left two people injured and shoppers who were waiting to see Santa Claus shocked following what police call an "interrupted theft".

The 20-year-old suspect accused of stabbing two men at the Mall of America in Minnesota has been identified.

The incident took place in the dressing room area on the first floor of Macy's, the Associated Press reports.

The incident occurred when a man confronted 20-year-old Mahad Abdiaziz Abdirahaman in the dressing room after he allegedly attempted to steal the man's belongings, CBS News reported. The victims were taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries. Abdiraham was able to stab both shoppers before he was subdued by other people in the store, authorities said.

Police were seen running through the mall toward the store, witnesses said.

While the Macy's store closed early, the Mall of America stayed open and was not placed on lockdown.

Abdirahaman reportedly began stabbing the person when he or she noticed the theft and confronted the suspect.
