Senegal spark 'old' Liverpool injury fears over Sadio Mane

Liverpool are sweating Sadio Mane's after he returned early from the Senegal camp

Mane has only recently returned from a separate injury he sustained during the previous global break, but Liverpool are once again sweating over the fitness of one of their key players.

Mane suffered a recurrence of a hamstring injury whilst on global duty for Senegal on Friday, while full-back Clyne recently underwent back surgery and looks set for another three months on the sidelines.

The forward is due back at the club's training complex on Tuesday after helping his country to their first World Cup finals in 16 years with a 2-0 win over South Africa in Polokwane on Friday night.

Liverpool will be hoping he can recover in time for Saturday's home fixture against Southampton, although the length of his potential absence has not been disclosed yet.

Liverpool fans will naturally be anxious given Mane's injury problems since moving to Anfield in a £30m deal from Southampton in the 2016 summer transfer window.

"It should not be forgotten in Liverpool, either, how important it is to Sadio that he represents his country whenever he is fit enough to do so".

Mane's return to action against the Hammers was well ahead of schedule, so it's not a bad idea to send him back to Liverpool's doctors. He is proud of his country and knows what a role model he is for them.

Liverpool have won their last two Premier League matches after a three-game slide in which the defence made countless errors.
