Guruvayur: The Thrissur District Collector on Monday issued prohibitory orders in areas coming under Guruvayur, Guruvayur temple and Pavaratty police station limits in the wake the murder of an RSS worker. The hartal will be organised in Guruvayur and Manaloor. P Anand was attacked with sharp weapons by the men who first hit his motorcycle with their auto causing him to crash, police said. Anand was allegedly attacked near Balrama Temple, Nenmini at around 1 p.m. on Sunday. When Anandan and Vishnu fell down, they dragged Anandan away and hacked him to death. Though he was rushed to a private hospital at nearby Chavakkad, he succumbed to his injuries. After the attack, the assailants abandoned their vehicle and fled. He is reportedly an accused in the murder of Students Federation of India (SFI) leader Fasil in 2013.

BJP state president Kummanam Rajasekharan has said that with continued shedding of blood in the state, the CPM has proven itself to be a terror outfit.

He was on bail and the police suspect that his murder is a revenge killing. The violence had died down for four months since the incident. The CPI (M) in turn accused the BJP and the RSS of indulging in violence and denied the involvement of its government and leadership in political killings. BJP alleged that CPI (M) is behind the murder. The posters and hoardings of CPI (M) were widely damaged by the protesters. Also, this is the first time a political murder is taking place in Guruvayoor town where Seva Bharathi's Seva Sangam is underway for two days on November 11 and 12.

BJP national president Amit Shah in a tweet has condemned the murder and demanded an explanation from chief minister Pinarayi Vijayan. Countering the BJP's Janaraksha Yatra, CPI (M) too held protests and meetings in various districts of the state.
