Hardik Patel says viral video is morphed, BJP is playing dirty games

Gujarat election Hardik Patel's glory may fizzle out

Patidar quota leader Hardik Patel got embroiled in a controversy as two sex video clips allegedly showing him with a woman went viral on social media.

"The BJP has prepared a doctored sex CD to defame me and it will be released just before the election". In the video, the man with demeanour similar to that of Hardik Patel is seen conversing with the woman, who is sitting on the bed with her back towards the camera. However, the authenticity could not be verified independently by India TV.

The alleged clip appears to have been filmed in a hotel on May 16, 2017 that shows a person resembling Hardik in a compromising position with an unidentified woman.

The alleged sex CD aired as Hardik Patel met with top aides to consider the Congress' proposal on how it will handle the Patidars' demand for reservation.

After the second video of Hardik Patel emerged on Tuesday, the Patidar leader casually answered to questions posed on him and said this is election time, everyone has the right to level allegations.

Nitin Sardesai, MNS MLA, said, "Hardik has denied that the CD doesn't belong to him".

Taking a dig at BJP, he also said that the sex CD seems as a big conspiracy of the party which is a ideal example of their "dirty politics". Speaking to media, Patel said that the video has been released to malign his image in the light of the upcoming elections in the state. He said that BJP was not involved in this and Hardik should take legal action If he felt that CD was fake.

In October, CCTV footage was leaked to establish that Hardik Patel met Rahul Gandhi at a hotel in Ahmedabad. Hardik Patel has taken a Congress leaning, encouraging his community to follow suit.

Hardik Patel has said that he is satisfied with the three options provided by the Congress on how the party would grant reservation to Patels if voted to power, according to PTI reports. Incidentally, Hardik was attending the core committee meeting of Patidar Anamat Andolan Samiti (PAAS) in Gandhinagar when the video became viral.

Patel said it was a conspiracy against him by the ruling BJP, which was "known to be adept at this".

The Gujarat assembly elections will be held in two phases.
