Falcons Owner Arthur Blank Says Compensation Committee Is Finalizing Roger Goodell's Extension

Roger Goodell wants an awful lot in his new contract. More

An attorney representing Jones said last week that the Cowboys owner had sent a letter to league counsel that was shared with the other NFL owners that said they were being misled during the negotiations.

Jones called-out Blank during the week regarding NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell's contract extension.

As tensions continue to mount over the National Football League commissioner's contract extension, some of Jones' fellow billionaire owners have had enough of the sideshow antics and have reportedly looked into the so-called "nuclear" option, in which the polarizing 75-year-old could forfeit his beloved Cowboys franchise.

Apparently, there is a belief among some NFL owners that "Jones instigated Papa John's CEO John Schnatter to disparage the NFL, blaming league leadership for ratings declines and, in turn, a reduction in Papa John's revenues", according to PFT.

Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones may not have contact with Ezekiel Elliott, but he said is not concerned with what his suspended running back will do over the next five games.

One owner believes Jones wants to "overthrow" Goodell.

But months of repeated missteps, failures and black eyes have sawed the legs off that throne, and Goodell now finds his contract extension anything but a rubber-stamp guarantee ... even as he's apparently making some eyebrow-raising contract demands. 'Shocked, ' the source said.

Goodell appears set to remain in his current role; forcing him out would require a two-thirds majority of owners, and Jones doesn't appear to have that kind of coalition mobilised.

Fox cameras noticed that the Cowboys and Falcons owners did not exchange pregame pleasantries despite standing just yards from one another at Mercedes-Benz Stadium.

Jones worked for a time with the committee as an unofficial, non-voting member.

Owners voted, 32-0, at their May meeting in Chicago to authorize the compensation committee to negotiate an extension with Goodell. He's wanting to really go to work and not have distractions while he's not able to play the game.
