Facebook and Messenger will now share the same Stories

Messenger Day

It's also withdrawing the Facebook Direct messaging feature in favour of handling Stories replies and messages via Messenger, the report suggests. This means that whatever content you post up on Stories will be marked as seen on Messenger if you have seen it on Facebook.

Further, Facebook is replacing Messenger Day with Facebook Stories, and syncing both cross-posting and viewing.

Facebook is bringing a major overhaul in the Facebook Stories feature.

It is also in the news that the company is also launching Facebook Stories for its stripped app for the developing world, Facebook Lite.

All of this might sound confusing, but thats because it is.

The merger is part of Facebook's efforts to boost its number of users for Stories, to match the likes of Snapchat and Instagram. Now, the count is down to three, which is still three too many.

And before we forget, Facebook is introducing collaborative stories for groups and events.

Facebook is hooping these services will make users' lives easier and cause less confusion around when people should post in the separate apps. "Now, it's quicker and easier to capture and share moments as they happen with the people you care about most!" . With the latest change, you'll have "Stories" as a unified way to share your visual messages with any of your Facebook friends.

While the socio-tech giant is restructuring many aspects of stories, it is also adding the unified Stories for events.

By simplifying the original Stories feature, Facebook is going to have double the users of their Stories feature so it will be around the same as Instagram has. We heard from people that they would often share on Facebook or Messenger, save the photo or video, and then post to the other.

Do you share photos and videos through Stories on Facebook? It actually makes sense to just have one product as it is sometimes confusing. You can select your audience from public, friends only, friends, custom list of specific people and connections. For the Lite version, users will be able to view the Stories only and they will not be able to post a new one for now.
