Chevrolet Corvette ZR1 returns for 2019 with 755 HP

2019 Chevrolet Corvette ZR1's LT5 V-8 engine leaked

The rear wing looks large enough for light aircraft duty and the front splitter could help ZR1 owners offer snow-plow service during the winter. The company expects to hand-build about 3,000 per year.

Nineteen-inch front and 20-inch rear wheels wear P285/30ZR19 front and P335/25ZR20 rear tires, with Michelin Pilot Super Sport rubber.

Chevy claims that after benchmarking a few sports cars with active wings, they came to the conclusion that those serve more of an aesthetic objective than anything else, creating the least drag and the most downforce at their fully extended form.

Straight line speed isn't the new ZR1's only forte. The engine also comes with dual fuel injection, which provides the engine with both direct injection and supplemental port injection to further increase the performance of the engine. The brakes are equally serious carbon ceramic units with six-piston calipers at the front.

Remember the Z06's overheating issues? A new carbon fiber "halo" hood rises high and is open in the center in order to clear the bigger supercharger and intercooler. He also says that he anticipates the auto to hit 60 miles per hour (96 km/h) in as little as 2.7 seconds, but we'll know more once Chevy shares some more official figures.

Suspension-wise, it has a double wishbone setup all around, with cast aluminum upper and lower control arms, transverse-mounted composite springs and Magnetic Ride Control standard.

You can also opt for the ZTK Performance Package, which includes improved features for maximum power.

For example, the new ZR1 has a redesigned front end with huge air intakes to feed four new radiators, which brings the total heat exchanger count to 13, according to Chevrolet.

The latter of the two trims comes fitted with a full aerodynamic body kit, ranging from a revised front fascia with a more pronounce grille and new splitters, to sharp side skirts, and even a downforce-enhancing underwing. Plus the bucket seats, naturally.

The 2019 Corvette ZR1's front end is created to channel maximum air for propulsion-system and drivetrain cooling.

As for the ZR1's interior, there are two packages available, 1ZR and 3ZR, that can dress up the cabin with a carbon fiber trimmed steering wheel, competition sport seats, Bose audio, or Napa leather seats with heating and cooling. The Dodge Viper ACR might be dead, but there seems to be a new King of the Hill.

The vehicle is undeniably cool, even when it's parked, but will surely look even better when it hits the street and track next spring at a price that hasn't been announced, but will likely be north of the $112,000 the last ZR1 went for in 2012. He's confident the car's "robust application" of the 8 speed will more than do the job.
