Prime Minister Narendra Modi will attend the India-Asean and East Asia Summits in Philippines on November 14. The praise shows that the USA now views India as a major reliable partner on the global stage to counter China's military and economic rise. It goes beyond that. "Hope you can inspire people to inculcate sports as part of their daily lives", added Modi, who was also present at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium in New Delhi during India U-17's opener against the United States of America on October 6.

"I would like to assure you whatever the expectations are of the world, of the U.S. from India, India has always made efforts to fulfil those expectations and we will continue to do so in the future too", Modi said.

"PM Narendra Modi is here we had met at the White House before". He's doing a great job.

"We have been friends, partners and allies in the Indo- Pacific for a long, long time", he said.

The Prime Minister invited the players after they came back from Saudi Arabia following the AFC U-19 Championship Qualifiers.

American firms have long complained about China failing to honour intellectual property rights.

The use of the term Indo-Pacific by President Trump has also led to speculation that it may have something to do with Washington preparing the ground for a Japanese proposal on a "Quadrilateral" strategic alliance between the US, Japan, Australia and India which is apparently being put together to counter China's rise.

Buoyed by President Donald Trump's gushing praise for Prime Minister Narendra Modi at the recent APEC summit in Vietnam, Indian diplomats are hoping for a rich outcome when the two leaders meet in Manila on the sidelines of the Asean summit on Monday.

"Since India opened its economy, it has achieved astounding growth and a new world of opportunities for its expanding middle class", Trump said.
