NFL's Marquise Goodwin Scores Touchdown Hours After Baby Son's Death

49ers' Marquise Goodwin loses son due to pregnancy complications

After the play, Goodwin dropped to his knees and kept his face on the ground while several teammates gathered to comfort him.

Goodwin and his wife Morgan lost their baby boy early Sunday morning after a premature delivery.

"Today, I had to deliver my precious baby boy early this morning due to preterm labor", she wrote.

"Although we are hurt, I am grateful for the experience and grateful that God blessed me with a wife as courageous and resilient as Morgan", Goodwin said.

Despite losing his son earlier in the day, Marquise Goodwin managed to score a touchdown helping his team to its first victory of the season. "The pain (physically, mentally, & emotionally) that she was endured is unbelievable", he continued.

He kissed his hand and blew it toward the sky before taking a knee and beginning his prayer.

Both Goodwin and Goodwin-Snow are career athletes; they were stars on the track team at the University of Texas at Austin. The 49ers went on to defeat the Giants 31-21 to earn their first win of the season.

Please note: This post contains a picture from Goodwin's Instagram post that might make some readers uncomfortable. "He had a wonderful game today". In September, the fifth-year National Football League veteran shared a photo of him and his wife kissing while holding an ultrasound image.

"I just wanna thank those who've genuinely prayed for [wife Morgan Goodwin] & myself throughout this pregnancy", Goodwin began. It's just important for us to remember that things happen for a reason, even though we may question ourselves "why us".
