"The DCP traffic (western suburbs) has been ordered to visit the spot and conduct an inquiry into the incident at once".

Rakhi Mali, the woman who was inside the vehicle, told the newspaper: "My husband requested the traffic cop to take the fine amount and release our auto".

The policeman reportedly also claimed to have a video to counter the other side's version.

The Mumbai traffic police department later suspended the traffic constable for risking the life of the woman and her baby.

The women identified as Jyoti Male said the policemen who towed away her auto didn't ask her to get down even once. Rane was also not wearing his name tag on his uniform, which is a violation of the police guidelines of the state of Maharashtra.

It has been reported that the traffic cop while being seated in the towing van, called and informed the police control room and Malad police saying that the woman and her husband stopped him from "doing his duty".

. "Hence, pending inquiry, the constable is being placed under suspension", Joint Commissioner of Police (Traffic) Amitesh Kumar said. Our child is unwell and we wanted to rush to a doctor. "The case will be handled appropriately and sternly after the report is received tomorrow", Kumar assured. "I got in the auto and they started towing the vehicle", she told reporters. "I told him that my husband, Jairaj, was suffering from high fever and we had gone for medical tests", she added.

One of the traffic policemen was heard requesting her to come out of the auto as the vehicle was already attached to the trucks. "The events prior to the actual towing, as shown in these fresh videos, will also be a part of the enquiry".

TV channel, India Today, released the video that was shot moments before the auto was towed away. The video takes the internet by storm and netizens slam the traffic police for their insensitivity.

Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis too had condemned the Mumbai police for being insensitive and has said that the cop is suspended.

She also demanded apology from the cops for their act. "Traffic personnel will be sensitised to avoid such an incident from being repeated in future", said a senior official.
