Arkansas quarterback arrested on suspicion of DWI and careless driving

University of Arkansas Quarterback Cole Kelley has been arrested on suspicion of DWI and reckless driving.

"He's got to understand what life can be like without football", Bielema said. He's appeared in nine games this year and has taken over as the team's starter after leading the team to wins against Ole Miss and Coastal Carolina. "Social media and everything else around, he's going to be held to a higher standard".

Bielema added that Kelley is "very disappointed" in his actions and that Kelley and his parents agreed to the discipline.

According to jail records, he was booked around 8:30 a.m. Sunday.

"He's been pretty honest and up front with me all the way through", Bielema said.

Arkansas head coach Bret Bielema released a statement in which he claimed to be aware of the situation surrounding Kelley. Kelley started the team's previous four games when Allen was sidelined with a shoulder injury. Kelley did play against the Tigers, completing 3 of 10 passes for 36 yards with an interception in the final two drives of the game. Kelley has thrown for 1,038 yards with eight eight touchdowns and four interceptions for the Razorbacks, who are 4-6 with just a 1-5 mark in SEC play.

Allen had completed 13 of 23 passes for 140 yards prior to being removed from the game.

Bielema said Allen felt physically fine on Sunday following his first game since injuring his throwing shoulder against SC on October 7, joking that Allen said his only sore body part were his legs from all the running he did against LSU. "This week, he'll not be with us and will not play on Saturday. I think you'll see a big spike in him this week". Ty Storey will serve as Allen's backup. Walk-on redshirt freshman Jack Lindsey will be the No. 3 quarterback.
