Apple to launch three iPhone X-inspired models in 2018, report claims

The analyst notes that the larger OLED model would presumably serve as a sort of "iPhone X Plus" featuring an edge-to-edge display and the general size of a Plus-sized iPhone.

Apple never discloses iPhone sales on a model-by-model basis but chief executive Tim Cook said that the iPhone 8 has "gotten off to the fastest start of any Plus model", which has come as a "bit of a surprise" to the company.

You can simply swap over your new iPhone X with a new one at any Apple Store, but it's still a huge hassle after you might have set it all up and now have to wipe it and do it all over again. Not to forget the screen burn-in issue with Google Pixel 2 XL which Google fixed in a recent update as it turned out to be a software issue.

The iPhone X's popularity is likely tied as much to its new design as the extras inside the case, such as the camera, Animojis and selfie portrait mode.

The iPhone 8 is expected to see a 50-60% decline this quarter thanks to consumer preference for the iPhone 8 Plus and iPhone X. More than 20 users already have reported the issue on MacRumors discussion page and some users have also stormed Reddit about the issue. Hopefully this iPhone X software update should help fix it for those users who need to use their phone in the cold. Last week, Apple had also warned users that the iPhone X's OLED screen might fall prey to screen burn in, and advised users to keep the brightness as low as possible to avoid the problem. The problem persists when users tries any kind of audio playback at high volume, be it for phone calls, music, videos, alarms and ringtone.

Apple has so far declined to comment on the issue, and has replaced affected units without charging users.

The iPhone X comes with a double speaker front-facing earpiece which combines with the speakers at the bottom of the device to deliver stereo sound. Because these issues are manufacturing defects, you should be eligible for a free replacement.

KGI has previously predicted that all iPhones will drop Touch ID next year in favor of Face ID as the new design moves away from fingerprint recognition in favor of facial recognition for biometric security.

Apple claimed that the chances of the Face ID failing are one in a million, but recent reports and tests show otherwise.
