As investigations into 7-year-old Ryan International student Pradyuman Thakur are underway after a Class XI student was apprehended by the CBI, the investigative agency is now examining the role of the second student.

According to the CBI, the murder weapon which was used by the accused is the same as that was recovered by the Gurugram police from the commode of the washroom where Pradyuman was killed.

In its application for seeking the Class 11 student's custody, the CBI had stated that the accused had confessed to his crime.

The agency was able to piece together elements of the crime by analysing CCTV footage, scientific and forensic examination, analysis of the crime scene. Amirchand said that the family had "decided to file a case against Gurgaon Police SIT officers who framed and used torture and even drugged him (Ashok) to confess before the media that he had committed the crime".

She also wanted to confront the accused she said: "We don't know who this kid is".

The parents of the detained student were kept informed throughout the investigation, said the spokesperson for the Central Bureau of Investigation.

On Thursday, the accused, who is in CBI custody for 3 days was brought to the agency's headquarters at 11am and after a few hours of questioning, a team took him to Gurugram. The Bombay High Court had rejected their transit anticipatory bail plea but granted them interim protection from arrest for a day to enable them to approach the Punjab and Haryana High Court. "It is a good lesson for the police as well and will help us improve going forward", he added.

The court order came after the CBI apprehended the teen from his home in Sohna on Tuesday night.

The Haryana Police had earlier claimed that Pradhuman was killed by conductor Ashok Kumar inside the toilet as the boy resisted a bid to sodomise him. It was perhaps just this part of the footage that the Gurgaon police checked before deciding to arrest Ashok for the murder.

Stung by the development, Gurugram Commissioner of Police Sandeep Khirwar said his force would cooperate with the CBI.

The Gurugram police said they had found the knife under the arrested bus conductor's possession which was later contradicted by the CBI probe which said that the knife had been obtained from the crime scene (bathroom).
