Rahul Gandhi may take over as Congress president on October 30

Rahul Gandhi

The Union Minister Smriti Irani said that the Congress leader cannot win the Gujarat Assembly election with these attempts and further wished the Rahul Gandhi on the occasion of the Gujarati New Year. However, a cursory glance at the twitter handles retweeting the Congress Vice President's tweets does throw up some questions.are these automated "bots" mass retweeting Rahul Gandhi's tweets?

BJP leaders however, focused their attack on alleged bots used by the Congress to boost Gandhi's tweets, an allegation countered by the party.

On October 15th, "OfficeofRG" retweeted US President Donald Trump's post praising American-Pakistani relations with a caption "Modi ji quick, looks like President Trump needs another hug".

Later the Congress called the BJP's attempt to question Rahul's social media popularity a "diversionary tactic" from the issues raised by the Congress leader online, because BJP did not want to "focus on them". The tweet quickly reached 20,000 retweets and now has touched 30,000.

Smriti, who rarely misses an opportunity to take on the Gandhi family ever since she lost the 2014 polls from Amethi to Rahul, sarcastically remarked that perhaps the Congress scion was "planning to sweep the polls in Russia, Indonesia and Kazakhstan".

Rathore, MoS for Youth Affairs and Sports, tweeted, "In sports, this would come under "Doping"...hey wait! does "dope" remind you of someone".

When asked about this apparent inorganic spike Divya Spandana/ Ramya, the new Congress chief of Social Media and Digital communications wrote back, "On Twitter one tweets and what happens after that is not in our control".

The Congress vice president had, in a series of tweets that were posted over the past few days, mocked at the BJP and Prime Minister Narendra Modi over the gag order against The Wire.

To prove her point she also retweeted a tweet: "10 bots on which ANI story is based, activated 4 days ago.RG's tweet was 6 days ago". Hindustan time in a report had claimed that Rahul Gandhi's tweets have been retweeted more than any other politician in recent times which now appears to be the work of bots or fake users. By late Saturday evening, the tweet had gained 36,000 likes, 17,000 retweets and over 5,500 replies, all set to take the battle to Sunday and beyond. "Saal Mubarak", Irani tweeted after Gandhi responded to a report on a Gujarat court barring publication of news on Jay Shah on Friday.
