Bucs' Jameis Winston day-to-day with sprain in throwing shoulder

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers' season looked like it was in big trouble when quarterback Jameis Winston went down with a shoulder injury against the Arizona Cardinals. Winston started the game going five-for-10.

Jameis Winston's MRI results revealed that he suffered a sprained AC joint in Sunday's Week 6 matchup versus the Cardinals and it's uncertain whether or not he'll be suiting up for this week's game versus the Bills. Fitzpatrick finished 22 of 32 passes for 290 yards with three touchdowns and two interceptions and is expected to get the majority of reps this week should Winston not be healthy enough to play. Still, he reiterated it would be premature to conclude the young quarterback won't be able to play against the Bills. But Jameis took a shot, he landed right on that thing.

"Jameis is as tough as they come, but we'll be able to see at some point this week how it's affecting his velocity", Koetter said. "That was the thing yesterday when Jameis said he needed to come out". Griffin has been on injured reserve and is eligible to return to practice this week but can't play yet.

Meanwhile, the coach said he has full confidence in Fitzpatrick - a 13-year pro who has started 116 games for six other teams - if Winston can't play.

"Yeah, of course. You don't want anybody to be hurt", Koetter said.
