Huawei Mate 10 Mate 10 Pro

Yesterday, Huawei announced the Mate 10 series touting AI capabilities and incredible cameras and today they took wraps off the Mate 10 lite. But differentiate with what? Together with the NPU, the ISP allows for some nifty artificial intelligence tricks. For instance, Google's Pixel phones? Also, Huawei's new flagships sport Leica's lenses as well. With the Mate 10 series, Huawei has also introduced the neural-network processor unit (NPU), which is a dedicated processor for AI. Here is the complete set of specifications for the Huawei Mate 10 and Huawei Mate 10 Pro.

"As we enter the age of intelligence, AI is no longer a virtual concept but something that intertwines with our daily life", said Richard Yu, CEO of the Huawei Consumer Business Group, in a statement. The iPhone X claims to have a screen-to-body ratio of 81.36% which has been defeated by the Mate 10 Pro at 81.61% and the Mate 10 at 81.79%. The Mate 10 Pro and Porsche design Mate 10 in comparison come with a 6-inch AMOLED display with a FullHD+ resolution and a pixel density of 402ppi. They're not remarkably different from each other, however.

Both the Mate 10 and Mate 10 Pro match the LG V30 in widest camera aperture for a smartphone at a value of F/1.6.

Huawei has been partnering with lensmaker Leica for its premium offerings and with Mate 10 series too, Huawei is highlighting its partnership with Leica in the camera department offering dual camera setup with improved optics. A 20MP monochrome sensor and a 12MP RGB sensor coupled with Optical Image Stabilization (OIS), BSI CMOS Sensor, PDAF, CAF, Laser Autofocus, Depth Autofocus and a dual LED flash. On the front, there is an 8MP shooter with an aperture of f/2.0.

The main differences, apart from design, lie in power. The Mate 10 and the Mate 10 Pro are powered by Huawei's proprietary Kirin 970 processor coupled with 4GB of RAM, 64GB of storage and 4,000mAh battery. The smartphones run Huawei's EMUI 8.0, a custom user interface based on Android 8.0, Oreo. The AI enabled device packs 4GB of RAM and 64GB of internal storage that can not be expanded.

The Mate 10 is due to go on sale later this month, and the Mate 10 Pro in November.

There are other properties of machine learning such as providing search results according to the user's browsing habits as well as providing accurate text messaging suggestions when they are having conversations with their friends. The Huawei Mate 10 is priced at 699 Euros (INR 54,000) and the Huawei Mate 10 Pro retails at 799 Euros (INR 61,000) only, which gives an edge over the Samsung Galaxy Note 8, and iPhone X in terms of pricing.
