Adrian Peterson, DJ Humphries, Jermaine Gresham spark Cardinals' running game

Cardinals hold slight lead over Buccaneers in all-time series

Quarterback Carson Palmer has been sacked a league-high 19 times. "You could feel in with the fans in the stadium". "You could kind of see it on the defense's face".

"We just came out a little flat and you can't do that in the NFL", Buccaneers cornerback Brent Grimes said.

Peterson wasn't the only older guy who showed out for the Cardinals.

Palmer shook off a so-so performance against the Eagles by hitting his first 14 passes and finishing 18 of 22 for 283 yards and three touchdowns.

"I obviously did a disgusting job of getting these guys ready to play", Tampa Bay coach Dirk Koetter said, "because that was the worst first half of football I've ever seen". Fortunately for Peterson though, he didn't have to house hunt for long because one of his new teammates offered to let him move in.

The Buccaneers managed to put together a second-half charge, but got the comeback going a bit too late to pull out a road victory. That might have been lost among the Cardinals' jubilation following their win over the Buccaneers and Adrian Peterson's debut. After just one game, he is ow the team's leading rusher. "But we have to finish better".

It's not a secret that Baltimore needs some stability at running back considering Terrance West has been dealing with a calf issue for most of the season and was only able to play the first series against the Oakland Raiders last week. They were giving up an average of 87.2 yards per game on the ground. The most rushing yards any one player had had in a game was the 44 Chris Johnson had in Indianapolis. Peterson had 81 yards on 27 carries before this week.

But he did say the Cardinals didn't perform up to the standards that had gotten them into what appeared to be a blowout. An Arizona Republic columnist, Dan Bickley, wrote that Peterson may have saved the Cardinals season. It was a number the Cards topped only three times previous year, when David Johnson made the Cards' rushing game one of the best in the league.

"I feel good. This is the opportunity I've been waiting for. When I got that call I was rejuvenated".

Peterson's huge day nearly included another 41 yards, a run that likely would've ended the drama much earlier. But by Arians' estimation, he still has some way to go before getting back onto the field. Fitzgerald caught 10 passes for 138 yards and a score.

Suddenly the Cardinals are rejuvenated alongside Peterson.

"There's obviously a couple of throws I'd like to have back", Fitzpatrick said. Jokingly said he "probably would've had a ring already".
