Register to vote this weekend for the general election

Early voting and vote by mail begins Oct. 11

"We are excited about being able to offer 17 days of early voting to Fulton County residents", Richard Barron, director of Fulton County Registration and Elections, said in a statement.

To register online, voters need their Virginia DMV customer number.

Because of the governor's race and other high-profile state and federal campaigns, the board can expect heightened voter interest in elections that will result in greater cost in 2018, Lovas said.

As Election Day gets closer, "there will be a little more activity", Barbour predicted based on trends during past election seasons. Supreme Court elections for the the 7th Judicial District, encompassing, Cayuga, Livingston, Monroe, Ontario, Seneca, Steuben, Wayne and Yates, has Republican John Gallagher running uncontested.

The Virginia Department of Elections says that is the registration deadline for the November 7 election.

"Nowadays I think they are more focused on the issues and they look at each issue one at a time".
