Liverpool lose Sadio Mané for six weeks with hamstring injury

Liverpool's Sadio Mané ruled out for up to six weeks after injuring hamstring

For the most part things were looking good for Liverpool, and then disaster struck late on Saturday for Sadio Mane.

And Liverpool have confirmed the Senegal star is set to be sidelined for up to six weeks.

The Brazilian will more or less always look to Mane first, and 25-year-old, in turn, will always seek to make himself available.

That time has come again with Mane sidelined and Sturridge will nearly definitely get more opportunities on the pitch if he stays fit, with Klopp looking to balance Premier League commitments with Champions League demands.

Liverpool said the injury "could keep him out of action for up to six weeks" starting with Saturday's league game against arch-rivals Manchester United at Anfield.

And Ginola highlights how the loss of Mane will impact heavily on the team.

Since signing for Liverpool from Southampton for a fee of £34 million in 2015, Mane has been in excellent form and has left a gaping hole in the side whenever he has not been available for selection.

He has scored three goals in four Premier League games this season.

"Liverpool especially we talk a lot about (Philippe) Coutinho, Sadio Mane is another one". Ahead of the 3-3 draw at Watford on the first day of the season, he said of playing Mane and Salah together: 'It makes us more hard to defend because speed is the most hard thing to defend in football.
