Facebook, Instagram suffer global outage; say aware of situation, working on solution

Facebook and Instagram are down for thousands of users across the US and UK according to reports. The issue appears to be widespread with reports of outage popping up in Brazil Japan India and parts of Europe

In fact, Facebook users around the world experienced an outage of the social network this morning, and it appears to be continuing.

DownDetector.com showed that there were more than 12,000 incidents of people reporting issues with Facebook.

Multiple services, like Down Detector and Outage Report, have high numbers of users reporting the issues. Outage Report is also monitoring the problem, which it says started at 11.11 a.m ET.

Numerous thousands of users affected took to rival social network Twitter to complain about the lack of service.

Mashable reports that both desktop and mobile users are experiencing problems.

The remaining 10 percent said that they faced problems with pictures.

A Facebook spokesperson told Deadline, "We're aware that some people are now having trouble accessing Facebook and Instagram".

Lag? The most we've been able to get this morning is Facebook's top menu line before the pageload totally dies.

A number of users, who couldn't log in to Facebook, received a message, "Facebook will be back soon".
