Xiaomi Mi Mix 2 First Look

Xiaomi teases Mi Mix 2 for Indian fans launching tomorrow

The design is slick and sexy.

Xiaomi Mi MIX 2 price in India: The Xiaomi Mi MIX 2 India price is set at Rs 35,999. At the global launch event, Xiaomi's Senior Vice President, Xiang Wang announced to launch the phone in Indian market soon which was later on confirmed by Xiaomi India VP Manu Kumar Jain.

On the software front, the Mi MIX 2 runs on Android Nougat out-of-the-box with Xiaomi's latest MIUI 9 custom skin layered atop. Manu Jain, managing director of Xiaomi's India operations, however said that the internet-company model which took seven years in its home country to take shape will take some years to fructify in India where the smartphone maker has been operating for just three years. Last year, the 1 million mark was achieved in 18 days.

But with the launch of the Mi Mix 2 in India on Tuesday, Xiaomi is once again trying its hand at the premium segment after the Mi 5 early a year ago.

The Mi Mix 2 also features global LTE support with 43 bands across 6 network modes which promise to operate in around 226 regions across the world.

Xiaomi's confidence with the Mi Mix 2 stems from a few reasons.

What do you think of the Xiaomi Mi Mix 2? Companies like Samsung and LG followed with the Galaxy S8 and LG G6 that had minimal bezels.

The Xiaomi Mi Mix 2 comes with a 5.9-inch display that covers most of the front.

Powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 SoC, the device supports the dual rear-camera setup with two 12-megapixel sensors where one has a f/1.8 wide-angle lens, the other has a f/2.6 telephoto lens while offering 4-axis optical image stabilisation.

IDC says that the Mi Mix's design and high-end specs makes it a worthy competitor in the premium segment, giving users a pretty decent alternative considering that the Galaxy S8 is priced at Rs 54,000 and the iPhone 8 is priced over Rs 60,000. While most phones - including mid and low-range phones - in the market come with IP68 certification, the Xiaomi Mi Mix 2 strangely does not come with any promise of being safe against splashes. It is unclear if the company will bring all the models to India, however, for understanding, the Mi MIX 2 with 64GB storage carries a price tag of RMB 3,299 (approximately Rs 32,400), while the 128GB storage model costs RMB 3,599 (approximately Rs 35,300), and 256GB storage variant is priced at RMB 3,999 (approximately Rs 39,300).
