Trump set to meet Queen in downgraded United Kingdom visit

How will US President Donald Trump feel about being downgraded by the Queen

Donald Trump was said to be planning a stripped-down trip to the United Kingdom in early 2018 as diplomats discussed the idea of the president embarking on a "working visit" to Britain as opposed to the standard red carpet affair.

A senior U.S. diplomatic figure has hinted Mr. Trump could be asked to open his country's new embassy in Britain in order to avoid any embarrassment, having earlier been offered a full-blown state visit by British Prime Minister Theresa May within days of his inauguration in January.

President Trump was expected to embark on a full state visit in early 2018 after Prime Minister Theresa May officially invited the USA leader shortly after his victory in November 2016.

The Evening Standard reported Wednesday that Trump's visit will be labeled a "working visit" to avoid scrutiny.

May repeatedly refused to cancel her invitation to Trump but postponed his state visit indefinitely.

A spokesperson for Jeremy Corbyn, the leader of the UK Labour Party, stated "We have said this state visit should not go ahead but Jeremy has said he would be happy to meet President Trump and take him to Finsbury Park Mosque".

A full-blown State Visit would then be planned, possibly for later in the year.

The news comes after months of controversy regarding the visit.

He needs to be met with mass protests whether or not it's a state visit. Saudi Arabia's King Abdullah, China's President Xi Jinping and US President George Bush are among the guests who have attracted condemnation in previous years.

Downing Street declined to comment but has said that its position has not changed since the offer was extended and accepted.

However the speculation came to nothing. "Exact dates for President Trump to visit have not yet been arranged".

Jeremy Shapiro claimed Trump was "exploiting" Britain's romantic view of the special relationship to get a post-Brexit trading deal that benefited America.
