Southwest Airlines selling tickets as low as $49 until Thursday

Southwest Airlines kicks off 72-hour sale with round trip flights less than $100

Want to get away? The price jumps to $79 to fly to Chicago and $99 to fly to Phoenix.

But, flights on Fridays and Sundays are excluded.

As of Tuesday morning, Southwest flights out of San Antonio International Airport included one-way travel to Houston, Dallas and El Paso starting at $49. The sale applies only to travel booked for Tuesday, Oct. 31 through Tuesday, Dec. 19 and from Wednesday, Jan. 3 through Wednesday, Feb. 14, which means Christmas and New Years deals are out of the question. The company is also offering sales on global routes, although Dallas residents will have to make their way down to Houston because worldwide flights aren't allowed at Love Field under the terms of the Wright Amendment reform.

Tickets for those traveling to or from San Juan, Puerto Rico, are valid from October 31 to December 7, and January 16 to March 1. In fact, in June 2015, this sale was so popular that it crashed the Southwest website, prompting the airline to extend its sale for an additional 24 hours.

Sale fares are also blacked out for global travel on November 21 and November 22. The Dallas, Texas-based airline is known to offer massive fare sales several times every year.
