Porsche's $2000 Passport subscription swaps cars on demand

Porsche's new Passport subscription program could be just what you're looking for. In addition to the vehicles in the Launch plan, it includes cars such as the Porsche 911 Carrera S sports auto, the Panamera 4S sport sedan, the Macan GTS and the Cayenne S E-Hybrid.

The automaker labels it a "white-glove" service created to give customers access to a different Porsche through an app.

Porsche Passport is still only a pilot program for now, being limited to customers in Atlanta, Georgia. Expansion into other markets will be determined after feedback from Atlanta customers, a company spokesperson told The Verge on Tuesday.

As part of the subscription, all vehicle tax, registration, insurance and maintenance costs are taken care of.

For those willing to stump up US$3000 every month, the Accelerate level features 22 vehicles on demand, adding the 911 Carrera S, Panamera 4S, Macan GTS and Cayenne S E-Hybrid to the roster of available cars.

"Launch": Includes on-demand access to eight model variants such as the 718 Boxster and Cayman S, as well as the Macan S and Cayenne, for a monthly fee of $2,000. The service charges a one-time activation fee of $500, and membership approval is dependent on a background and credit check.

Klaus Zellmer, President and CEO of Porsche Cars North America: "Our Strategy 2025 vision is to be the most aspirational brand in a new era of mobility and consumer expectations".

Due to launch in the USA in November, you'll be able to select which auto you want to drive through an Apple iOS or Android app, and are free to schedule same-day or future vehicle exchanges.

"Catering to customers' desire to experience our sports cars in new ways is a part of our core strategy".

Assuming you're approved on both, subscribers will be able to choose their preferred vehicle in the app, and set up their same-day or future scheduled deliveries.

Porsche is far from the first brand to jump into subscription services, but it may have one of the most inclusive ones in existence today.
