Giants injury updates: Odell Beckham Jr. to have season-ending ankle surgery

Giants superstar wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr. suffered what looked like a nasty left leg injury late in today's game against the Chargers.

Head coach Ben McAdoo said it is safe to say his star receiver's season is over while speaking on a conference call a day after the Giants' 27-22 loss to the Chargers. Players knelt on one knee and Beckham left on a cart with a towel over his face. He tried to resuscitate the Giants' season with a 48-yard touchdown that gave them the lead early in the fourth quarter.

It will be the first time in his four professional seasons that Beckham didn't reach at least 90 catches, 1,300 yards and 10 touchdowns. The Giants added Tavarres King and Travis Rudolph to replace Beckham and Harris on the active roster.

Beckham was not the only NY receiver that suffered an injury on Sunday. Sterling Shepard is considered day-to-day with his sprained ankle, and Brandon Marshall will have more tests Monday on his sprained ankle. Dwayne Harris will have surgery to fix a fractured fifth metatarsal in his foot.

They also signed Darius Powe, who was cut after training camp, to the practice squad. "They well-deserved the opportunities".

The short-handed Giants play Sunday night in Denver potentially without their top three receivers.
