Danny Rose and Erik Lamela back in training with first-team squad

Danny Rose shoots for Tottenham versus Liverpool in the Premier League

Starsport can reveal Rose has set his heart on leaving Tottenham for Old Trafford ahead of the World Cup in Russian Federation.

Valued at £45m, StarSport say United are increasingly confident of landing Rose next year.

Per Cross, a source indicated the 27-year-old-currently tied to a £75,000-a-week contract to 2021 at Spurs-would pick a move to United over Chelsea despite the Blues' interest: "The lure of United is too strong for him, and if he had the choice he would pick United hands down".

Lamela has not played for Tottenham for nearly a year because of hip problems and even spent time at former club Roma as he attempted to overcome his injuries before undergoing surgery.

He underwent surgery in May and has still not featured for Spurs, but has completed his rehabilitation and is expected to return to training within the next week.

The England worldwide subsequently apologised and boss Mauricio Pochettino insisted the issue had been resolved.

Shaw is the best hope United have for a long-term solution at left-back, but he continues to be something of an enigma and barely trusted by Mourinho.

And a new left back ranks high on Mourinho's list of transfer priorities, with Daley Blind, Ashley Young and Matteo Darmian having shared the role so far this season.

But Mourinho knows the addition of Rose, with his lightening speed and attacking threat going forward, would be a huge asset to his side.

Doncaster-born Rose, who joined Spurs as a teenager in 2007, has made it clear that he intends to return to the north of England before he retires. Further, the move would also facilitate an assured spot in Gareth Southgate's England squad that will travel to Russian Federation for the World Cup in 2018.
