As noted on the Counter-Strike website, the main goals for the Dust II rework center around improving player readibility throughout the map, refining movement and cover, and upgrading the visuals to be more in line with CS:GO's more recent map releases.

Valve made the announcement via a tweet. The last game update was October 5, which consisted of small, additional changes to the molotov-smoke bug fix. In that light, the beta update should arrive in the next couple of weeks.

Global Offensive announced that players will update Dust2 from most played maps. The map preview teased new map textures, a color change to the skybox as well as green palm trees, blue tent sits, and a painting of dusty concrete buildings.

The B bomb site has been changed to move the busted vehicle further away, "allowing a more free player flow around it", Valve said.

Dust 2 has been out of CS: GO's Active Duty rotation since February. When Dust II is returned to the competitive pool, another map will be pulled out of play so it can be fixed up.

With all of the map updates, Valve has also made a decision to treat fans by overhauling the villains of Dust II, the Leet Krew.
