ALCS Series Prediction: Will Astros turn away underdog Yankees? 10/12/17

New York Yankees Didi Gregorius runs the bases after hitting a solo home run off Cleveland Indians starting pitcher Corey Kluber during the first inning of Game 5 of a baseball American League Division Series Wednesday

As you should know by now, the Astros will play in the ALCS starting this Friday.

According to oddsmakers at, the Astros are a -175 favorite to win the series.

The Astros are the nation's sentimental favorites after what Hurricane Harvey did to Houston, and they have never won a World Series. Houston is a -180 favorite to win Game 1 and NY is a +155 underdog. They move to Chase Field on Columbus Day for game three of the series, in which Arizona hopes to keep going to avoid being eliminated. NY blew a five-run lead in Game 2, with manager Joe Girardi making mistake after mistake. Houston advanced to the ALCS by downing the Red Sox in four games in their ALDS series, clinching it with a 5-4 win Monday in Boston.

The median ticket price for Game 1 increased by 47 percent overnight, and Game 2 prices went up by 43 percent on SeatGeek.

Houston has been the better team all season.

"It was a remarkable game, Didi with those two home runs", one fan said. In his 162.2 innings and 10-12 record this year, Gray put up a 3.54 ERA with 153 Ks.

Right-hander Justin Verlander has looked rejuvenated since the Astros acquired the 34-year-old in a trade from the Detroit Tigers on August 31.

The Astros took care of business against the Red Sox in their ALDS, winning game 1 8-2, Game 2 8-2 and Game 4 5-4.

-David Robertson came out of the bullpen in the fifth to give NY the first 2 2/3 innings of 4 2/3 innings of no-hit relief.

In Keuchel's lone postseason appearance this year, he went 5.2 innings with three hits and one earned run for a victory in Game 2. Houston will also run out Justin Verlander (15-8, 3.36), Brad Peacock (13-2, 3.00) and Charlie Morton (14-7, 3.62).

Once in Cleveland, the Yankees were carried by Didi Gregorius, who hit two home runs in the first three innings to give NY a 3-0 lead. Brett Gardner was 8-for-25 in the series and had a key two-run single late in Game 5 to help clinch it. The Astros have repeatedly said over the last six weeks how badly they want to win the World Series to bring some joy to a city devastated by flooding and high winds. Carlos Correa and Alex Bregman both had two home runs to help lead Houston to the series win.

He has not faced the Yankees this year with either the Tigers or Astros. Counting the AL Wild Card game, the Yankees have survived elimination in four games. With the Astros bullpen a plus unit and the defense being strong at almost every position, it's hard to find a flaw with Houston.
