Microsoft lets Cortana reply to your Skype messages

The integration is done for both Android as well as iOS devices.

The Cortana support is also going to be great because it will allow you to see all kinds of other related information.

Cortana will initially roll out only to the Skype mobile app (for Android and iOS), only in the US and only for text-based messaging - not for voice or video calls. No word yet if this will be available in the upcoming Fall Creators Update or be added later in a later Windows 10 update. For example, it can recommend a restaurant, offer up movie reviews, set up reminders and even suggest quick replies if you're short on time.

During your Skype chats with friends and family, Cortana will intelligently provide smart replies based on the response you have received from the other person in your chat.

Microsoft's personal assistant, Cortana, has finally found its way to Skype.

Explaining the integration, Microsoft said, "In addition to being your "behind-the-scenes" assistant, Cortana is also a contact in Skype".

Additionally, Cortana is also a contact in Skype.

Make sure you have the latest version of Skype for Mobile installed on your device. If you haven't done this, you will be taken through the process before you enable Cortana.

Cortana can be used to give Skype users directions. "So now, you can have natural conversations in one-on-one chats with Cortana". So, the next time you're chatting with someone and need to look up something - like movie times, restaurant hours, or a fact - you may be able to get the information right from Skype.

The integration seems like it could be occasionally handy, though I've never found similar chat assistants to be all that useful; usually, they offer to do things I don't want or would rather just do myself.
